IAWP Educational and Legislative Liaison Lee
Foley announced to the IAWP leadership
the House and Senate during
the week of September 22nd passed a continuing
resolution (CR) that will fund the federal
government until March 6, 2009. At that time
there will be a new administration and a new
Congress. Continuing Resolutions are an
important part of the annual budget process.

The IAWP
Legislative Steering Committee
collaborated with Educational and Legislative
Liaison Lee Foley to prepared letters and
faxed them on September 30th to key
Congressional offices. The letters were
addressed to the Honorable Robert C. Byrd,
Chairman, Senate Appropriations Committee; the
Honorable Tom Harkin, Chairman,
Appropriations Subcommittee, Senate Labor,
Health and Human Services, Education and Related
Agencies; and the Honorable Dave Obey, Chairman,
House Appropriations Committee. The letters are
posted on the IAWP website for all members to

This is one more example of your professional
organization working to assist the Workforce
System.

- for the
National Disability Employment Awareness Month
was announced by U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine
L. Chao. The National Disability Employment
Awareness Month is observed each year in
